Stay Calm & Assess the Situation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pets can sense your anxiety\u2014stay calm to help them feel safe while you assess their condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Control Bleeding<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apply gentle but firm pressure<\/strong> with a clean cloth or bandage to stop bleeding. For severe bleeding, use a tourniquet (only as a last resort) and get veterinary help immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Know How to Perform CPR<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your pet is not breathing<\/strong>, perform CPR<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Treat Burns Carefully<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For heat burns<\/strong>, cool the area<\/strong> with cold water for 5-10 minutes<\/strong>, then cover it with a non-stick dressing<\/strong>. For chemical burns<\/strong>, rinse the area thoroughly and contact your vet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Handle Fractures with Care<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keep your pet as still as possible<\/strong>. If necessary, gently immobilise<\/strong> the limb with a splint<\/strong> (rolled-up newspaper or padded board) and seek veterinary care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recognise Signs of Poisoning<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Symptoms of poisoning include vomiting, drooling, tremors, and difficulty breathing<\/strong>. If you suspect poisoning, call your vet immediately<\/strong> and avoid inducing vomiting unless instructed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Know How to Handle Choking<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your pet is choking<\/strong>, check their mouth for visible objects and remove them carefully. If they are still choking, perform the Heimlich manoeuvre<\/strong> (sharp thrusts to the belly) and seek urgent vet care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manage Heatstroke<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Signs include panting, drooling, and weakness<\/strong>. Move your pet to a cool area<\/strong>, apply cool water (not ice-cold), and give small amounts of water to drink. Seek emergency vet help ASAP.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Handle Seizures Safely<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your pet has a seizure<\/strong>, do NOT try to hold them down. Remove nearby objects<\/strong> to prevent injury and time the seizure<\/strong>. If it lasts longer than 2-3 minutes<\/strong>, call your vet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Have a Pet First Aid Kit Ready<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A good pet first aid kit<\/strong> should include:
\u2705 Bandages & gauze
\u2705 Antiseptic wipes
\u2705 Tweezers & scissors
\u2705 Digital thermometer
\u2705 Saline solution
\u2705 Emergency vet contact details<\/p>\n\n\n\n
