ā˜€ļø Beat the Heatwave: Top Tips for Pets

As the temperature climbs across the UK, it’s essential to take extra care of our pets in this heat. Here’s what we recommend:

  1. Keep ’em cool & hydrated
Always provide fresh, cool water and offer ice cubes as fun, cooling treats.
  2. Safe shade matters
Ensure pets can access shaded areas, especially during hottest hours (12–4 pm).
  3. Protect those paws
Pavements can scorch tender pads—test surfaces with the back of your hand before walks.
  4. Avoid midday walks
Stick to early morning or evening strolls to dodge peak temperatures.
  5. Watch for signs of overheating
Look out for heavy panting, drooling, lethargy, or vomiting—cool them gently and call your vet ASAP.
  6. Cool bedding & mats
Consider cooling mats or damp towels for dogs and cats to lie on indoors.
  7. Never leave pets in cars
Even a few minutes can be deadly. Please keep them at home where it’s cooler.
